Our principle

Athar does not sell your data, does not share it with advertisers, and does not use it for any purpose other than running the app for you.

What we collect

• Your email — to create your account and send trip alerts.
• Your trip data — destination, dates, tasks, budget, bookings, packing lists, and memories you write.
• Photos you add — car documentation photos and product ingredient photos you scan.
• Your location — only when you ask, to show the nearest mosque or restaurant, prayer times, Qibla direction, or to save your parking spot.
• Your phone number — optional, collected only when you enable Athar Voice Alerts yourself.
• Last app activity — we store only the time your account was last active to understand service usage and help operate the app. We do not record which pages you visit, which buttons you tap, or your location as part of this activity record.

We do not collect your contacts or messages, and we do not track your browsing outside the app.

Where your data is stored

On Supabase servers in Frankfurt, Germany, protected by strict row-level security ensuring each user sees only their own data. Backed up daily.

Services we use

• Supabase — accounts and database
• Netlify — website hosting
• Resend — reminder and alert emails
• Anthropic (Claude) — reading and analysing ingredient photos
• Open maps and weather services — mosques, restaurants, weather, prayer times
• Telnyx — to place reminder and voice alert calls for users who enable them

External links and services (such as maps, search, and company websites) are governed by the terms and privacy policies of their respective operators.

Ingredient scanner photos

When you photograph an ingredients list, the image is sent to an AI service only to read it, then a compressed copy is stored in your account so you can revisit it in your archive. You can delete any scan at any time.

Your location

We never request your location unless you tap a feature that needs it. We never track your location in the background. If you decline, the app keeps working with all its other features.

Athar Voice Alerts

Your phone number is entirely optional and is never collected unless you actively enable the "Athar Voice Alerts" feature yourself. If you don't enable it, we never ask for or touch your number.

• Use: We use your phone number for an optional pre-flight reminder call and to contact you when an important trip update occurs, such as a flight cancellation, an important boarding gate change, or a gate about to close. We do not use your number for marketing and we do not sell it to anyone.
• Your consent is explicit and required: calls are never enabled without your clear consent inside the app, and you can disable the feature and delete your number at any time from the same place you enabled it.
• Call provider: we use Telnyx to actually place the voice call. Telnyx receives only the minimum information needed to place the call (your number, and a short message containing your flight number, scheduled departure date/time, and destination if available) — never your full name, booking reference, passport number, or seat number.
• Why this minimum: someone other than you may answer the phone, so we keep the message to the least detail needed to be understood.

Your rights

• Access — all your data is visible to you inside the app.
• Edit and delete — you may edit or delete any trip, photo, or scan at any time.
• Full account deletion — from inside the app: Account panel → “Delete my account permanently”. Your account and all its data are erased immediately and permanently.
• Data export — the app lets you export a backup yourself.

Account & data deletion

You can delete your account and all your data in two ways:

• Inside the app (fastest): open “Account” → “Delete my account permanently”, then confirm. Your account and all data are erased immediately and permanently.
• Outside the app: email a request from your registered address to hello@myathar.ae with the subject “Delete account”, and we will delete it within 7 days at most.

What is deleted: your account and email, all trips, tasks, bookings and budgets, all scans and their images, your saved car location, and your usage log — all permanently erased.

Retention: we keep no data after deletion; deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children

Athar is a general travel-planning app, not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
